We are delighted to be able to announce that the induction of the new minister of the linked charge of Ardchattan linked with Coll linked with Connel, Reverend Willem Bezuidenhout, will take place on 28th November in St Oran’s Connel at 7pm. Supper will be served in the village hall after the service. Parking is available at the Doctor’s Surgery in Connel and behind the Village Hall, also throughout the village and at the church.
We pray for our Church in this time of change and challenge, and for our new minister and his family who will be spending time apart at first while they transition into our community.
We’re preparing for Christmas now. The crafters have been busy preparing for our Christmas Fayre on 7th December. Mark the date in your diary and come along to see what they have made. At the same time browse our large collection of second hand books, buy some home baking or preserves and enjoy morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea with us.
A big thank you to everybody who contributed in any way to the Shoe Box Appeal, enabling us to gather and distribute 42 shoeboxes. Ann has now despatched them to Blythswoosd Care. The shoeboxes they received last year were distributed in Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
On the 6th of October we had our harvest thanksgiving services. Rev Carol Leech challenged us to see how many words we could make using the letters from the word “harvest”. She gave us some examples; have, heart, share, starve. How many more can you make?
Here are some photos of the flowers donated by the congregation of St Oran’s. After the service the flowers were distributed to people in the community unable to join us this morning.
Here are the trophy winners and some pictures from our Annual Exhibition of Flowers, Vegetables and Baking held on the 7th September.
