To mark the Year of Young People 2018 a Sports Day was held in Dunbeg on 7th July, which was enjoyed by all who attended. We had races, a craft table to go and make things, barbecue, teas and coffees.
Over this weekend, on Friday & Saturday, a Holiday Club was hosted in Connel Village Hall, with invitations being sent to all the village organisations and both schools and Sunday schools, and also visiting children.
The theme was ‘Jesus and Me’ (JAM Club) brought to life through the calling of the 12 disciples, the feeding of the 5000 and the calming of the storm.
The format, devised and delivered by members of St Oran’s, included warm up games, singing and storytelling and craft activities. On the second day the Presbytery Youth Worker joined in and showed us how to make boats from sponges which were added to the display.
Our display was then taken to St Oran’s Church and used during the service of worship on the Sunday. During the service the congregation were asked to write prayers on the cut out fish which were added to the net. (This was a joint service).
After the service the congregation were asked to come up and have a closer look at what we had made and took away word searches and dot tot dot sheets to try themselves. The net was left up in the Church for anyone who hadn’t been at the service to come along and look and to add their fish if they so wished. A great time was had by all who attended.
