In past years we have had a retiring offering during Christian Aid Week to raise much needed funds for them. This year, Christian Aid invited supporters to join Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk so on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th April. Some of us puton our Christian Aid tabards, a little tartan, our walking shoes and walked from Oban Airport to Benderloch as our way of supporting them. Altogether £235 was raised and then topped up by 50% from the Sir Tom Hunter Foundation. Many thanks to all who participated or donated.
On 29th February we invited all our loyal preachers from the time of vacancy and the people who provide music for worship to a thanksgiving lunch. After enjoying an amazing selection of sandwiches and puddings along with tea and coffee, we sat back for some entertainment. First of all and particularly appropriate to this year’s COASTS AND WATERS theme the children and their leaders enacted the story of Jonah and the Whale. We laughed at a poem about our weather from Moira and one about keeping fit from Lynn. There was music from Winnie and Ann, singing from the children and the Wednesday Bible study group. Willem asked for the singing to be repeated during Sunday Worship. What a lovely church family event. Many thanks to all who helped in any way to make it such a success.
Here are a selection of pictures taken at our Christmas Fayre on the 7th of December. It was a delight to have our new minister and his family join us at this happy event. Many thanks to everyone who helped in any way with, and came along, especially to the young people who entertained us with music, and from the school who made cards, candles and headbands to sell. A great time was had by all.
On 28th November we joined together with members of Ardchattan Parish for the induction of our new minister Rev. Willem Bezuidenhout. The service was led by Mr Douglas Allan, the Moderator of The Presbytery of Argyll, and Mr W Stewart Shaw, Presbytery Clerk. Rev Scott Burton, recently inducted into the charge of Gigha and Cara lw Kilcalmonell lw Killean and Kilchenzie, preached.
After the service we were piped along to the village hall where a buffet supper was laid out and some entertainment had been arranged.
We look forward to exploring God's will for us in this new time of ministry.
We’re preparing for Christmas now. The crafters have been busy preparing for our Christmas Fayre on 7th December. Mark the date in your diary and come along to see what they have made. At the same time browse our large collection of second hand books, buy some home baking or preserves and enjoy morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea with us.
A big thank you to everybody who contributed in any way to the Shoe Box Appeal, enabling us to gather and distribute 42 shoeboxes. Ann has now despatched them to Blythswoosd Care. The shoeboxes they received last year were distributed in Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
